Market Chatter: Microsoft-Backed OpenAI to Continue Working With Scale AI After Meta Investment
Jun 13, 2025 7:43 AM

10:19 AM EDT, 06/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI will continue to work with Scale AI after Meta Platforms ( META ) agreed to invest billions of dollars in the startup, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar.

"We don't want to ice the ecosystem because acquisitions are going to happen," Friar said at the VivaTech conference in Paris, according to the report. "If we ice each other out, I think we're actually going to slow the pace of innovation."

Meta is acquiring a 49% stake in Scale AI in a deal that values the startup at $29 billion, the report said.

Meta, OpenAI and Scale AI didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
