05:41 PM EDT, 06/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI's annualized revenue has more than doubled to about $3.4 billion in the last six months or so, The Information reported Wednesday, citing a communication between OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman and staff.

The annualized revenue of the parent company of generative artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT was $1.6 billion in late 2023, the news outlet previously reported.

OpenAI didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
