11:30 AM EST, 01/31/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft's ( MSFT ) LinkedIn won't face a proposed class action lawsuit after the plaintiff accusing the networking platform of data privacy violations filed a notice of dismissal, Reuters reported Friday, citing Eli Wade-Scott, a representative of the plaintiff.
Alessandro De La Torre, the plaintiff, filed the notice in federal court in San Jose, California, after the suit had alleged LinkedIn allowed the private messages of millions of premium customers to train generative artificial intelligence models, the report said.
"Users can take comfort, at least, that LinkedIn has shown us evidence that it did not use their private messages to do that," Wade-Scott, managing partner at Edelson PC, said in an email, according to Reuters.
LinkedIn had said the lawsuit had no merit, the report said.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
