Market Chatter: New Fortress Energy Finalizes Puerto Rico LNG Agreement

03:46 PM EDT, 09/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- New Fortress Energy ( NFE ) has finalized a seven-year, $4 billion agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to Puerto Rico, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

The agreement will deliver much-needed relief for New Fortress, which has faced profitability and debt challenges due to delays at its Mexico LNG project and uncertainty surrounding its Puerto Rico contracts, according to the report.

The shares of the New York-based energy company surged more than 37% in intraday trading.

New Fortress Energy ( NFE ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
