12:26 PM EST, 03/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- New York Community Bancorp ( NYCB/PU ) is seeking raise equity capital and is trying to assess investors' interest in buying stock in the troubled lender, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.

The company didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

New York Community shares were down by more than 40% in recent trading.
