06:35 AM EDT, 08/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nexstar Media Group ( NXST ) is in advanced discussions to acquire rival television broadcaster Tegna ( TGNA ) , The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The companies could strike a deal soon as long as the talks don't hit any last-minute snags, the unnamed sources told the publication.

Nexstar and Tegna ( TGNA ) didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Tegna ( TGNA ) shares were up 29% in recent premarket activity Monday.
