Market Chatter: Nissan's Incoming CEO Open to Honda Partnership Despite Failed Talks
Mar 26, 2025 4:41 AM

07:21 AM EDT, 03/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nissan's incoming CEO, Ivan Espinosa, is open to pursuing a partnership with Honda Motor ( HMC ) even after talks for a historic tie-up fell through last month, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.

Espinosa, who will take the role on April 1, said that the shift to intelligent cars will require significant investment and collaboration, according to Bloomberg.

Espinosa reportedly acknowledged that developing intelligent cars may require expertise that traditional manufacturers lack; however, they could offer "some synergy" in areas like size, powertrain technology, and battery investments.

Bloomberg said Espinosa plans to find strategic partnerships to advance electric vehicles and new technologies, especially as Nissan looks to revamp its aging product lineup.

Honda ( HMC ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
