04:53 PM EDT, 06/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Nokia ( NOK ) is evaluating a potential acquisition of Infinera ( INFN ) , which makes optical telecommunications equipment, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

An announcement may come soon, though deliberations are ongoing with no certainty of a deal, the report said.

A representative for Helsinki-based Nokia ( NOK ) declined to comment, and Infinera ( INFN ) couldn't be reached for comment, Bloomberg said.

Nokia ( NOK ) and Infinera ( INFN ), based in San Jose, California, didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.

Shares of Infinera ( INFN ) jumped 24% in recent after-hours trading. Nokia ( NOK ) rose 1.3%.
