02:43 PM EST, 11/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia ( NVDA ) Chief Executive Jensen Huang requested SK Hynix to expedite the delivery of its next-gen HBM4 memory chips by six months, Reuters reported Monday, citing SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won.

The request indicates increased demand for higher capacity, energy-efficient chips for graphics processing units to develop artificial intelligence technology, according to the report.

The requested timeline is faster than the initial target date, SK Hynix spokesperson reportedly said.

Nvidia's ( NVDA ) spokesperson declined to comment while SK Hynix did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of Nvidia ( NVDA ) were up nearly 2% in recent trading.
