09:34 AM EDT, 03/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- NVIDIA's ( NVDA ) South Korean chip supplier SK Hynix intends to invest about $4 billion to set up an advanced chip-packaging facility in West Lafayette, Indiana, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing sources with knowledge of the details.
The facility, expected to begin operations in 2028, will create up to 1,000 jobs, according to the report.
A combination of tax incentives from both state and federal governments, along with additional types of assistance, is reportedly anticipated to be provided for the project's support.
SK Hynix "is reviewing its advanced chip packaging investment in the US, but hasn't made a final decision yet," the WSJ quoted a company representative as saying.
SK Hynix did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
