Market Chatter: Nvidia May Get US Government Nod to Export Advanced Chips to Saudi Arabia
Sep 11, 2024 11:36 AM

01:46 PM EDT, 09/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia ( NVDA ) may receive approval from the US government to begin shipping chips to Saudi Arabia for artificial intelligence workloads, Semafor reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The government had barred the company from exporting advanced chips to the country over concerns that China, which has close ties to Saudi Arabia, could gain access to the hardware.

Saudi Arabia is working to satisfy US security demands in order to receive the necessary hardware to build its own large scale AI models, the report said.

Nvidia ( NVDA ) declined to comment to MT Newswires while the US Commerce Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
