09:23 AM EDT, 07/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia ( NVDA ) will use Samsung Electronics' fourth-generation high bandwidth memory, or HBM3, chips in its H20, a graphics processing unit developed for the Chinese market in compliance with US export controls, Reuters reported late Tuesday, citing three unnamed sources.
It wasn't immediately clear if the HBM3 chips would be used by Nvidia ( NVDA ) in its other AI processors or if the chips needed to pass more tests before that could occur, the report quoted the sources as saying.
Samsung could start supplying HBM3 chips for the H20 GPU as early as next month, the report said, citing two of the sources.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) and Samsung didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
