09:37 AM EDT, 08/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia ( NVDA ) was urged Friday by a Chinese state-controlled media outlet to present "convincing security proofs" in order to eliminate Chinese users' concerns related to alleged security risks in its chips, Reuters reported Friday, citing a commentary published by the People's Daily.
The commentary published on a social media account of the People's Daily said that international companies have to follow Chinese rules and that security must be a basic prerequisite, Reuters reported.
"Cybersecurity is critically important to us," a Nvidia ( NVDA ) spokesperson told Reuters. "Nvidia ( NVDA ) does not have 'backdoors' in our chips that would give anyone a remote way to access or control them."
China's Cyberspace Administration said Thursday it was concerned over potential security risks linked with Nvidia's ( NVDA ) H20 AI chip, according to multiple media reports.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment emailed Friday by MT Newswires.
