Market Chatter: Nvidia's Partnership With OpenAI Could Trigger Antitrust Worries
Sep 23, 2025 4:35 AM

07:28 AM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia's ( NVDA ) $100 billion partnership with Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI could raise antitrust concerns, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing experts.

It "raises significant antitrust concerns," Reuters quoted lawyer Andre Barlow as saying.

Among the concerns is that Nvidia ( NVDA ) would favor OpenAI over other customers, said Rebecca Haw Allensworth, an antitrust professor at Vanderbilt Law School.

"They're financially interested in each other's success. That creates an incentive for Nvidia ( NVDA ) to not sell chips to, or not sell chips on the same terms to, other competitors of OpenAI," Allensworth was quoted as saying.

Nvidia ( NVDA ) said its "investments will not change our focus or impact supply to our other customers--we will continue to make every customer a top priority, with or without any equity stake."

OpenAI did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
