Market Chatter: NXP Semiconductors in Talks to Acquire Ambarella

12:47 PM EDT, 07/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- NXP Semiconductors ( NXPI ) is in talks to acquire Ambarella ( AMBA ) , a designer of chips used in the camera technology for self-driving cars, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Talks between NXP and Ambarella ( AMBA ) are ongoing, but a transaction is not guaranteed, the report said, citing the people.

NXP and Ambarella ( AMBA ) didn't immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.

Shares of Ambarella ( AMBA ) rose 17% in Friday trading, while NXP Semiconductors ( NXPI ) shares fell 4%.
