07:08 AM EST, 11/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI is struggling to develop more advanced artificial intelligence as its Orion model did not achieve the company's expected performance, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing two people familiar with the situation.
Orion fell short of resolving coding queries that it had not been trained on, the report added, citing the sources.
OpenAI is also putting Orion through a months-long process known as post-training, and the startup is not expecting to roll out the model until early 2025, one of the people told the news outlet.
Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is also struggling as its upcoming Gemini software is not living up to internal expectations, the report said, citing three people with knowledge of the matter.
Additionally, Bloomberg said that Amazon.com ( AMZN )-backed (AMZN) AI startup Anthropic is not alone in the queue as it has seen the timetable slip to launch its long-awaited Claude model 3.5 Opus.
OpenAI, Google ( GOOG ), and Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
