07:05 AM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft ( MSFT ) -backed OpenAI's new version of the Sora video generator will feature copyrighted material unless intellectual property owners opt out of having their work appear on the platform, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
OpenAI started notifying talent agencies and studios about the upcoming product and its opt-out process, which would require copyright holders to explicitly ask the company not to include their material in videos the tool creates, the report said.
The new product, however, won't generate images of recognizable public figures without their permission, the report added.
OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
