12:34 PM EDT, 09/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Petrobras (PBR) is negotiating to acquire stakes in African exploration blocks from Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) , Shell (SHEL), TotalEnergies (TTE), Equinor ( EQNR ) , and other companies, Bloomberg reported Thursday.
The discussions include blocks in Namibia, South Africa, Angola, and other countries, Petrobras head of exploration and production Sylvia dos Anjos said in an interview with Bloomberg.
One option the Brazilian oil major is considering is to acquire a 40% stake in Galp Energia's Mopane oil and gas exploration blocks in Namibia, according to the report.
Shell declined to comment, while Petrobras, Exxon, TotalEnergies and Equinor ( EQNR ) didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
