Market Chatter: Petrobras Starts Emergency Drill in Brazil's Foz do Amazonas Region

02:35 PM EDT, 08/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR) started an emergency drill in the Foz do Amazonas basin of Brazil on Sunday as it moves closer to receiving an environmental license to drill an oil and gas well in the region, Reuters reported Monday, citing a company statement.

The pre-operational assessment is expected to involve over 400 people and logistical resources including vessels, helicopters, and a drilling rig at the site of the planned well, according to the report.

Petroleo Brasileiro did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

Shares rose 1.3% in recent afternoon trading.
