12:09 PM EDT, 04/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Portugal's political party Chega aims to take legal action against Meta Platforms' ( META ) decision to allegedly curb the party's Facebook account for almost a decade, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing party spokesperson Patricia Carvalho.
The social media company informed Chega that its account had been restricted for 3,649 days, as its activity "disrespected" community standards, Reuters reported.
Carvalho reportedly said users can only share content published by other pages on Chega's Facebook page, but cannot create content. "We're going to take legal action against this decision," Reuters quoted Carvalho as saying. The company didn't allow restricted users to appeal through Facebook, according to the report.
Meta didn't immediately reply to a request for comment, Reuters reported.
