Market Chatter: President Trump Directs Federal Agencies to Coordinate With DOGE to Reduce Federal Workforce
Feb 12, 2025 3:02 AM

05:44 AM EST, 02/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US President Donald Trump has reportedly directed federal agencies to collaborate with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency to reduce the federal workforce, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing an unnamed White House official.

Trump reportedly asked the agency heads to coordinate with the DOGE to "significantly reduce the size of the government" and "limit hiring to essential positions," according to the White House fact sheet, cited by Bloomberg News.

The directive mandates that agencies hire no more than one new employee for every four departures, with exceptions for law enforcement, national security, immigration, and public safety.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
