07:25 AM EDT, 10/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Samsung Electronics has delayed the delivery of ASML ( ASML ) chipmaking equipment for its upcoming $17 billion factory in Taylor, Texas, due to the absence of any major customers, Reuters reported Friday, citing three people familiar with the matter.
Samsung has also postponed placing orders to other suppliers, prompting them to seek other customers and send on-site staff home, the report said.
Two sources said the delayed shipments include ASML's ( ASML ) advanced extreme ultraviolet lithography machines, essential for producing advanced chips.
The extreme ultraviolet lithography machines, which cost about $200 million each, were initially scheduled for delivery earlier this year but have not been shipped yet, one source told Reuters.
ASML ( ASML ) declined to comment, while Samsung did not immediately provide a comment to MT Newswires.
