07:51 AM EDT, 08/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- A version of Samsung Electronics' fifth-generation high-bandwidth memory chips passed Nvidia's ( NVDA ) tests for use in its artificial intelligence processors, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing three sources briefed on the results.

Samsung and Nvidia ( NVDA ) have not yet signed a supply deal for the approved eight-layer chips but will do so soon, Reuters reported, citing the sources, who said they expect deliveries to start by Q4.

Samsung's 12-layer high-bandwidth memory chips have not yet passed Nvidia's ( NVDA ) tests, the sources reportedly told Reuters.

Neither Samsung nor Nvidia ( NVDA ) immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
