Market Chatter: SoftBank Founder Pitches $1 Trillion Arizona AI Hub to Taiwan Semiconductor
Jun 20, 2025 3:38 AM

06:29 AM EDT, 06/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) could be a partner in SoftBank Group founder Masayoshi Son's planned $1 trillion industrial complex in Arizona to build robots and artificial intelligence, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Son has pitched the "Project Crystal Land" to Taiwan Semiconductor, the unnamed sources told the news outlet. The park may consist of production lines for AI-powered industrial robots, according to the report.

SoftBank officials have held talks with US federal and state government officials for potential tax breaks for companies building factories or otherwise investing in the industrial park, Bloomberg reported.

SoftBank's proposed project has no bearing on Taiwan Semiconductor's existing plans in Phoenix, according to the report.

SoftBank and Taiwan Semiconductor did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
