10:21 AM EDT, 09/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- SoftBank's Vision Fund will invest $500 million in Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI's latest funding round, which values OpenAI at $150 billion before the investment, The Information reported Monday, quoting an unnamed source familiar with the matter.

This is SoftBank's first investment in OpenAI, the report said, adding the Japanese company is joining lead investor Thrive Capital, which is investing more than $1 billion in the round.

OpenAI, SoftBank and Microsoft ( MSFT ) didn't immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
