Market Chatter: Sony Cancels Two Live Service Game Projects
Jan 17, 2025 8:49 AM

11:29 AM EST, 01/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sony ( SONY ) has canceled two previously unannounced "live service" game projects at subsidiaries Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, Bloomberg reported late Thursday, citing a statement from the company.

A spokesperson confirmed that the cancellations were made following a recent review, according to the report.

Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games will remain open, and Sony ( SONY ) plans to work with them to decide their next projects, the media outlet said.

Sony ( SONY ) did not say if these cancellations will lead to job losses, but the company aims to minimize impact on the business, Bloomberg said, citing a company memo to staff.

Sony ( SONY ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

Shares were moving 1.8% higher in recent trading.
