12:59 PM EDT, 07/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sony ( SONY ) is considering selling its cellular chip unit as part of a shift toward its entertainment segment, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing three people familiar with the matter.

The company is in the early stages of working with investment banks to explore a possible sale of Sony Semiconductor Israel, the report said.

Sony ( SONY ) shares rose 4.8% in recent Wednesday trading.

Sony ( SONY ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
