01:39 PM EDT, 05/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Spotify Technology ( SPOT ) is testing an AI DJ that speaks Spanish, TechCrunch reported Thursday, citing a tech veteran and reverse engineer who noticed references to the new feature in the app's code.

The code suggests the new AI DJ named DJ Livi would be available in Mexico, according to the report.

"At Spotify ( SPOT ), we routinely conduct a number of tests aimed at letting users express themselves through the music they love," the report quoted a company spokesperson as saying. "Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as important learnings. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time."

Spotify ( SPOT ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.

The company launched AI DJ, which introduces curated playlists to users, in 2023.
