11:33 AM EDT, 09/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Super Micro Computer ( SMCI ) shares were down over 12% Thursday after the Wall Street Journal reported the company is being probed by the US Department of Justice over accusations of accounting violations made by a former employee.
The probe is in an early stage, the WSJ said citing people familiar with the matter. It comes in the wake of a report published by short-seller Hindenburg Research that focused on the allegations brought by the former Super Micro employee, who filed a whistleblower lawsuit in April against the company and its chief executive, according to the report.
Super Micro Computer ( SMCI ) did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
