Market Chatter: Taiwan Semiconductor Pitched Intel Foundry JV to Nvidia, Other US Chip Companies

05:21 AM EDT, 03/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) has pitched US companies Nvidia ( NVDA ) , Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) and Broadcom (AVGO) regarding acquiring interests in a joint venture that would operate Intel's ( INTC ) factories, Reuters reported, citing four sources familiar with the matter.

The Taiwanese chipmaker is proposing that it would run the operations of Intel's ( INTC ) foundry division, but it would not own more than 50%, the unnamed sources told the news agency.

Taiwan Semiconductor also pitched the idea to Qualcomm ( QCOM ) , Reuters reported, citing one of the people and a separate source.

Any final deal would need the Trump administration's approval, according to the report.

Taiwan Semiconductor, Intel ( INTC ), Nvidia ( NVDA ), AMD and Qualcomm ( QCOM ) declined to comment, while the White House and Broadcom did not respond to requests for comment, Reuters reported.
