08:29 AM EDT, 07/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Investigators are looking at technical failure as a factor in the crash of a Boeing ( BA ) 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India in Ahmedabad, India, weeks ago, Bloomberg reported Tuesday citing people familiar with the probe.
A reenactment of the aircraft's parameters in a flight simulator, including with the landing gear deployed and the wing flaps retracted, found that those settings alone did not cause the crash, according to the people. Along with the fact that an emergency-power turbine deployed seconds before impact, the results have put focus on technical failure as a possible cause of the crash, the sources told Bloomberg.
The simulation was conducted by Air India pilots independently from an official investigation led by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, one of the people said.
The aircraft was powered by GE Aerospace (GE) engines, according to the report.
Boeing ( BA ) and GE did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
