09:48 AM EST, 02/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) was cited by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration for violating workplace safety rules in connection with the death of a worker at its plant in Austin, Texas in August 2024, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing a US Department of Labor statement.
The Labor Department said the investigation was closed in January and citations were issued, according to the report.
OSHA opened the investigation after the death of Victor Gomez Sr., an electrician working as a contractor for Tesla, and the filing of a wrongful death lawsuit against the company by Gomez's family, the report said.
Tesla and its Chief Executive Elon Musk did not respond to request for comment from Reuters. The company also did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
