Market Chatter: Tesla in Talks to License Chinese Battery Manufacturer's Technology in US

02:28 PM EDT, 03/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) is in talks with Contemporary Amperex Technology to license the Chinese battery manufacturer's technology in the US, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Contemporary Amperex Technology Chairman Robin Zeng reportedly told WSJ the specifics of the licensing deal would depend on Tesla's cash flow and will be similar to the company's existing agreement with Ford Motor ( F ) . Ford pays royalties on the production of vehicle batteries at its plant in Michigan.

Tesla, Ford and Contemporary Amperex Technology did not immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
