09:45 AM EST, 02/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) is getting ready to enter the Indian market with the shipment of a few thousand vehicles to a port near Mumbai in the coming months, Bloomberg reported Thursday citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter.
Tesla expects to start selling the cars in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore around Q3, the report said.
Which models will be shipped to India and from which plants will depend on factors including how tariff conversations between India and the US pan out, Bloomberg said.
Tesla's plans to enter India moved swiftly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk last week in Washington, the report said.
Tesla didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
TSLA shares were down 1.3% in early trading.
