05:57 PM EST, 11/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) received approval to operate as a transportation network company in Arizona, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday, citing a statement from the state's Department of Transportation.

The permit allows Tesla to provide ride-hailing services but does not authorize driverless operations. Tesla obtained a separate permit in September to test autonomous vehicles with a safety driver, the reports said.

Tesla applied for the TNC permit on Nov. 13 and was approved on Nov. 17, according to the reports.

Tesla and Arizona Department of Transportation did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
