04:44 PM EST, 02/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) wants to be the sole operator of its robotaxis once its self-driving vehicles are ready to hit the market, leaving potential partners such as Uber ( UBER ) on the curb, Uber ( UBER ) chief told Bloomberg Friday.
Citing recent conversations with Elon Musk, his counterpart at Tesla, Uber ( UBER ) CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said during an interview on Bloomberg TV that the electric vehicle manufacturer appears unwilling to work with other companies on booking customers or manage other aspects of the ride-hailing business. Instead, Uber ( UBER ) is partnering with Alphabet (GOOG) unit Waymo when it debuts its self-driving vehicles in Austin, Texas, next month.
Uber ( UBER ) and Waymo also expect to introduce self-driving vehicles in Atlanta later this year, the companies have previously said.
Tesla and Uber ( UBER ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comments.
