07:03 AM EDT, 06/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla's (TSLA) new car sales in the UK fell more than 45% year-over-year in May to 1,758 units, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing preliminary data from research group New AutoMotive.
The company's market share has reportedly declined due to growing criticism of CEO Elon Musk's political stance in Europe.
Despite the drop, Tesla remains the UK's best-selling battery electric vehicle brand in 2024 so far, Reuters reported.
Overall UK car registrations rose 4.3% to 144,098 units in May, with battery electric vehicle sales up 28% from a year earlier, the news outlet reported.
Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
