02:12 PM EDT, 05/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) and Verizon Communications ( VZ ) are looking to buy US Cellular in separate deals, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
T-Mobile aims to acquire some of US Cellular's operations and wireless spectrum licenses for more than $2 billion. The transaction could be reached as soon as late May, the report said.
The Verizon talks are expected to take longer or might not result in a deal, the report added.
The companies opted for the split-sale structure to convince antitrust authorities, the report said, adding that US Cellular has a market value of about $3 billion.
T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) declined MT Newswires' request for comment, while Verizon Communications ( VZ ) and US Cellular didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.
