07:23 AM EDT, 03/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) vehicles purchased to be used as taxis or ride shares will no longer receive financial incentives from the city of Toronto due to growing trade tensions with the US, Reuters reported late Monday, citing Mayor Olivia Chow.
The city offers reductions of licensing and renewal fees for electric vehicles used for hire until the end of 2029. Tesla vehicles were removed from eligibility as of March 1.
Chow said the exclusion, which is made to target and respond to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, will be in place until trade issues with the US are resolved.
Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
