07:13 AM EDT, 09/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) will consolidate production of its luxury Lexus brand cars in the US from two plants to one due to high tariffs, Nikkei reported Tuesday, citing sources.

The company is expected to end production of Lexus cars at a Kentucky plant but will continue operations at its Indiana facility.

The report said the move is aimed at strengthening US production of petrol-electric hybrid vehicles while shifting some production of high-end Lexus cars to Japan.

Toyota Motor ( TM ) didn't immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
