07:51 AM EDT, 03/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Trump administration has asked oil and biofuel groups to discuss and work together on a new biofuel policy, Reuters reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Two meetings were held, including one hosted by the American Petroleum Institute, where participants debated on biofuel mandates, refinery waivers, and tax incentives, according to the report.
The two industries have repeatedly argued over the US Renewable Fuel Standard, which requires blending biofuel into the country's fuel supply, and any agreement reached during these talks could be adopted by the Trump administration, Reuters said.
The White House, Environmental Protection Agency, and API did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
