11:39 AM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) is in discussions with MediaTek to potentially produce some of the mobile chipmaker's products in the US, Nikkei Asia reported Monday, citing a senior MediaTek executive.
The discussions could involve chips for automotive use or other applications to be built at Taiwan Semiconductor's Arizona facility, though no plan has been finalized, Nikkei Asia said citing MediaTek Corporate Vice President JC Hsu.
MediaTek also introduced its Dimensity 9500 5G chipset, built on Taiwan Semiconductor's 3-nanometer process, which allows smartphones to run advanced artificial intelligence features directly on-device, the report said.
Taiwan Semiconductor and MediaTek didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
Shares of Taiwan Semiconductor were up 3.5% in recent trading.
