Market Chatter: Turkish Airlines in Discussions with Boeing, Airbus to Buy 235 Planes

09:30 AM EDT, 04/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Turkish Airlines is in discussions with Boeing ( BA ) and Airbus to buy 235 aircraft as part of the carrier's expansion plans, Reuters reported Monday, citing Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat.

"We are negotiating with both Airbus and Boeing ( BA ) for the remaining 235 planes," the report quoted Bolat as saying at an Istanbul event held with Airbus and Rolls-Royce.

Turkish Airlines always had a "balanced policy" between Airbus and Boeing ( BA ), the report said, citing Bolat.

Rolls-Royce is also mulling potentially establishing maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in Turkey, the report quoted Bolat as saying.

Boeing ( BA ), Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Turkish Airlines did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
