08:11 AM EDT, 05/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tyson Foods ( TSN ) rejected America First Legal's accusations that the company discriminated against US citizens by preferring to hire foreigners in the country, including children, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the company.
America First Legal filed complaints Wednesday with the US Department of Justice, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Iowa Civil Rights Commission alleging that Tyson may be discriminating against US citizens and violating civil rights and laws prohibiting child labor in slaughterhouses and meat packing plants.
"There is ample reason to suspect that Tyson prefers hiring aliens and, as a 'joint employer,' alien minors over American citizens throughout its labor supply chain," America First Legal said.
A company spokesperson has denied the allegations, according to Reuters.
"Any insinuation that we would discriminate against Americans to hire immigrant workers is completely false. Today Tyson Foods ( TSN ) employs 120,000 team members in the United States, all of whom are required to be legally authorized to work in this country," Reuters quoted the Tyson Foods ( TSN ) spokesperson as saying.
Neither Tyson Foods ( TSN ) nor America First Legal immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
