01:42 PM EST, 01/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Uber ( UBER ) denied setting ride prices based on the type of phone a user has, following allegations from an Indian government agency, Reuters reported Thursday.
The Central Consumer Protection Agency sent a notice to Uber ( UBER ) after India's Minister of Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi claimed the company used "differential pricing" for Android and Apple (AAPL) phones, the report said.
There had been complaints that iPhone users were charged higher prices for the same ride compared to those using Android phones, it added.
An Uber ( UBER ) spokesperson reportedly denied the allegations and said the company is looking forward to working with the regulator.
Uber ( UBER ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comments.
