06:50 AM EDT, 10/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Uber Technologies ( UBER ) is exploring a possible bid to acquire Expedia Group ( EXPE ) , the Financial Times reported late Wednesday, citing three unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The ride-hailing company approached advisers in recent months after a third party suggested the idea and how it could be structured, the report added, citing the people.

The FT said the idea is in the early stages and no deal is guaranteed, citing the people.

One person told the Financial Times that there are no current talks and Uber ( UBER ) has not made formal contact with Expedia ( EXPE ) yet.

Neither Uber ( UBER ) nor Expedia ( EXPE ) immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.

Uber's ( UBER ) shares fell 4% in recent Thursday premarket activity, while Expedia's ( EXPE ) stock rose 8%.
