12:36 PM EDT, 03/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Uber Technologies ( UBER ) is set to launch its electric ride sharing service in New York after the city lifted a cap on electric vehicle ride hailing licenses, The Verge reported Monday.

The service, known as Comfort Electric, was launched in May 2022 and is available in 40 cities in the US and Canada, according to Uber ( UBER ).

Uber ( UBER ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
