08:07 PM EDT, 07/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- UEFA approved a boycott of FIFA tournaments if FIFA President Gianni Infantino proceeds with plans to sell stakes in a new commercial entity to investors, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Concacaf also rejected the proposal on Thursday, saying many of its 41 member associations raised deep concerns over the shortened approval timeline, the lack of review by FIFA governing bodies and the need to sell stakes after the most profitable World Cup in history, the report said.

UEFA said no national teams from its 55 member associations would participate in FIFA competitions while the proposal remained under consideration, arguing that the World Cup should not be treated as an investment product, the report said.
