08:12 AM EDT, 05/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday it is closing an investigation into more than 100,000 Tesla (TSLA) Model X vehicles after the automaker issued a recall to address front seat belt issues, Reuters reported Monday, citing an NHTSA statement.
The regulator said it was closing the investigation in light of the recalls and updates implemented by Tesla, according to the report. NHTSA said it may take further action in the future, if necessary.
Tesla issued a safety recall for certain vehicles in July 2023 and in June updated its procedures to require the first-row seat belt to be detached from and reattached to its pretensioner anchor, according to the NHTSA.
In March 2023, the NHTSA announced the opening of a probe into 50,000 Tesla Model X vehicles after it received two complaints of front seat belt failures, Reuters reported.
Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
Shares of Tesla were up 0.6% in recent Monday premarket activity.
