06:41 PM EDT, 07/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The United States said it had no role in redirecting the first Qatari liquefied natural gas shipment to transit the Strait of Hormuz in more than three weeks, Bloomberg reported Friday.

The Al Areesh transited the waterway early Thursday with its transponders switched on, signaling Pakistan as its destination, the report said, adding that after idling in the Persian Gulf since loading at Qatar's Ras Laffan export terminal in early July.

Centcom spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins said US forces weren't involved in redirecting the vessel, according to the report.

The ship was instead ordered by Iran to pause its voyage to Pakistan, the report said, citing a person familiar with the matter. The vessel is now near the Port of Muscat in Oman, with its estimated arrival in Pakistan pushed to August 6 from July 31, ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg showed.
